Senshinji Project
A vision of a vibrant center for the practice of Jodo Shinshu Buddhism
Background
On February 12, 2005, temple members participated in a Visioning Workshop to consider the future needs of the Temple complex, which included repairs and renovations to existing buildings. These upgrades were expected to enhance the temple programs that Senshin had come to value, and would provide the latitude to add new programs and/or expand the existing ones.
Fundraising for the Senshin-ji Building Fund was initiated in June 2005. Under the auspice of the Senshin-ji Building Fund, the repairs and renovations were planned, designed and executed. The Fund was bolstered by the overwhelming generosity of temple members and friends from the outset of our fundraising efforts, and that generosity continues to this day.
A new Nokotsudo
Plans were made for the construction of an entirely new, freestanding Nokotsudo (Columbarium)
Completed in December 2007, and a dedication service and ceremony was conducted on January 27, 2008.
Education Building
Rennovation was done on the first floor of the building. The restrooms were expanded and redone to be ADA compliant. The corner classroom was removed and the Minster’s office was enlarged. The entire library section was rennovated as well as all the entrances. This work was completed in February 2012.
The final piece of work on this building involved the replacement of all of the second floor windows, and that work was completed in October 2012, together with the replacement of all exterior doors to the Hondo.

Social Hall
The entire Social Hall was remodeled, this repair/renovation project proved to be the most challenging due to the fact that the building was 78 years old, and that much of the maintenance was deferred over the years. Obtaining approvals from the various public agencies proved to be a monumental headache. Securing the necessary approvals came with significant cost increases to the original construction plans. Fundraising continued through the project start date of August 1, 2016, to its completion in March 2017.
